As requested, I've uploaded the vid I made for the Opening Ceremony (which is also on the DVDs given out at the banquet - please shout if you were at the con and didn't get one):
I chose the end credits from Reboot for this because it blends the TOS theme into the Reboot theme, which mirrors what we tried to do with the convention.
I'm still reeling from this weekend. The sheer amount of energy was just incredible, and I was completely blown away by just how nice everyone was.
I've never run a convention from another continent before, so this was quite an experience. A good one, sure, but not one I'm likely to repeat! The con started for me on Tuesday when I landed at LAX and met up with
We had pre-registration on Thursday evening, and I was already completely overwhelmed by how excited everyone was. I was too tired and jet-lagged to get everything set up, so I was up and about again at 6am on Friday to set up the AV equipment and chase down the hotel staff who were supposed to have set up the rooms (a recurring theme over the weekend, alas).
I didn't get to see much of the con itself - I sat in for most of the writing sex and vid panels, which were really fun, but if anyone posts reviews of other panels please link me as I'd really like to know what actually happened at this con! I also got to watch Amok Time with a full room of K/S fans, which was so much fun.
The opening ceremony itself was probably the high point of the con for me - the energy level in the room, and seeing all the older and newer fans mixing together and the hilarity of people trying to draw rimming and model a blow job with playdoh, or act out sex in the captain's chair - I really wish we'd been filming that!
The banquet and vidshow on Saturday night was also great fun, although my green makeup didn't survive the density of ST3 vids! Some of the costumes were really spectacular, especially the Andorian who won the costume contest (I don't know if she's on LJ - any ideas?), and
I met so many lovely people this weekend that I can't possibly list them all. Some of the people I really enjoyed meeting include
I am still so overwhelmed by the fact that so many people put their faith in an untried concom who were trying to do this from another continent, and travelled from all over the country, plus Canada and Europe, in order to be here. Thank you so much to everyone who came, and I really hope I see you all again plus more at the next con!
